Jesse Howard

Jesse Howard (United States, 1978) Jesse is an Amsterdam-based designer and researcher focusing on creating objects that question the established relationship between designers, producers, and users, and as a result speculate on new systems of making. After studying mathematics and working in education in the U.S., he transitioned to the Netherlands to pursue an education in design. Jesse initiated an independent practice in 2012 after graduating from the designLAB at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. With roots in the DIY communities of FabLabs and makerspaces, his work explores how new approaches to making can influence everyday life. Currently, he is investigating alternative approaches to understanding and reevaluating changing relationships between users, technology, and everyday things through an ongoing collaborative platform Hacking Households.
