Black Star Tarot takes inspiration from African and Afro-Caribbean ceremonies. Through this body of work, the artist makes references to stories and superstitions from Creole and Cajun culture. Stories about tricksters, shapeshifters, gods that look like men, and men who look like beasts. The Tarot was an ideal platform for the artist to use because it is made for personal interpretation.

The concept is the result of an introspective journey in which the artist, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, took a deeper dive into the folklore and traditions surrounding his cultural heritage. Black Star Tarot aims to draw a bridge between the symbolism each tarot card represents, and the richness of the traditions of the Black Diaspora.

JJ Wilson is a visual artist from Baton Rouge. As a Black artist, he draws influence from his hometown in Louisiana and its extensive culture – a culture that is rich in the traditions of storytelling and music. From an early age, he has always been interested in the many myths and fables around the world and wanted to explore them. He’s been residing in the Netherlands since 2020, having lived and exhibited work in Shanghai, China previously.

The opening for the exhibition is Friday March 18th from 18:00-22:00, visitation Saturday March 19th 15:00-19:00.

SORO SORO

Bij Broedplaats Bouw

そろそろ soro soro
is a Japanese word which is commonly used to express that it's about time to do something.

And here, S o r o - s o r O  is a place where everyone is invited to try one’s indefinite ideas in front of an audience unofficially.
Nothing has to be perfect nor completed.
We would like to provide an opportunity to experiment and creative exchange.
The concept of  S o r o - s o r O  is greatly influenced by the spirit of l-e,  one of the most worshiped experimental venues in Tokyo, Japan, founded by Takuya and Yukiko Sakamoto.
It seems that there are not enough places to fail nor to try uncertain things in this society even though almost no one could make things perfect from the beginning.
All the rough ideas which had been unrealized or given up due to the lack of opportunities could potentially become something.

The Unreal Real

Bij Broedplaats Bouw

As the lights fade to a dim black we project into the ethereal space works and performances that blur any line, confuse any interpretations and represent the converging dualities embodied by the yin and yang. Inspired by the writings of Laozi and Zhuangzi, the works presented by Mireille Gros highlight Daoist principles that link humanity and nature in order to garner respect for and a newfound appreciation of nature.

Videos, photography, physical performances and music flash into the space and quickly dissipate back into the darkness. What will you see? What will you experience? Noone will answer the same way. So better find out for yourself!"

In association with Bi Art Paris, Loose Dog Magazine and De Bouwput.

Artists: Mireille Gros, Yu Jung Huang and Yuu Lin
Performance artists: Christian Crochet
Musician: Cosmin Stanciu

"Loosedog is collaborating with De Bouw Put in order to hold a Creative Writing Workshop within the white walls of endless inspiration! Come and develop your writing, receive feedback and provide some too, it's a hoot and a half!"

Workshop will take place from 10:00 - 17:00

Dear friends and extended community,

We warmly invite you to a short but sweet exhibition at the De Bouwput, Friday 10th December from 14.00 to 17.00 where the 2nd Year Graphic Design students will exhibit in collaboration with Werker collective.

Chroma: Reassessing Colour from the Margins

In this one day exhibition the participants will showcase their takes on the wide experience of color, ranging from participatory installations to audio experiences. The works are a result of a three month in-depth exploration of the political and personal significance of color and its effects on our lives and perceptions.

We look forward to welcoming you and hope you can make it despite the awkward timing. We will provide drinks and ambiance.
